Amazing food, fantastic service with everyone being polite and accommodating. I think we are addicted to the Chicken Fried Rice. The Hot and Sour soup is some of the best I've eaten, even what I've had in Chicago. Just a great flavor. We've never had a meal we didn't enjoy. We've taken picky eaters who were visiting us here and they enjoyed everything. Everything has a fresh taste to it, like it was just brought from the market and cooked perfectly. I'd recommend Chen's Gourmet to anyone looking for great food.

The young man who answers the phone, delivers the food, and gets your food ready for to go orders, is so nice and thankful! The orange chicken and fried rice are by far the best on the menu

Not sure what all the negative reviews are about, went here on wed night around 8pm. I had the shrimp w/ mixed vegetables and my wife had some chicken with light white sauce and some sort of fried rice. Both were very good and definitely had a lot left over. I ordered the dinner and had the wonton soup. I am a big soup person and this was one of the best wonton soups that I have had from a chinese restaurant. Waiter was extremely friendly and very attentive. My shrimp with mixed veggies also had stir fried tomatoes I believe as one of the veggies, I am not a big tomato fan and was turned off at first but these were surprisingly good in the veggie mix. Again the portions were big and there were at least ten big shrimp in my dinner. Everything tasted really fresh and the sauces had good flavor. On another note chinese restaurants are a bit tough to review since they all seem to have the same menu. I have been to my fair share of them throughout the milwaukee area (Emperor of China, Highly rated one out in Waukesha). I give this one four stars and will review again once I try some of the other dishes.

This is my 2nd visit here. The first time I had a pork dish. It tasted like nothing and I didn't even bother saving the leftovers. I decided on my 2nd visit I would order something spicy so I got the General Tso's Chicken and fried dumplings. Most places steam or pan fry the dumplings. I've never had them deep fried before. They were adequate but I can't see myself ordering them again. Another Yelper reported General Tso's Chicken to be nothing but a big red gloopy mess. They weren't wrong. It had flavor but ZERO heat. I certainly wouldn't have called it spicy. The food is a step above buffet level and the location is convenient. The staff was beyond friendly; almost to the point of annoying.

Great food. MUST try walnut crispy chicken. It is amazing. Another favorite of mine is the Lo Mein (I mostly get beef or pork). Best Lo Mein of at least 5 different places I've tried. Everybody else uses wrong kind of noodles.

The food here is awful. When we first went it took a while to get us seated. The fact we were the only people there would have been a sign. There were few carry outs. People who say the food here is best Chinese definitely have had no other Chinese or flavorful food before. The bamboo shoots used in the chicken was stale ,maybe out of a can yuk...literally crapy food. I live close by but would never consider carry out from here.mi would go all the way to Yen Chin on good hope.

Tried them again just because they are only chinese place that delivers. Ordered singapore noodles and chinese fried chicken. The chinese fried chicken was greasy but tasted ok. The singapore noodles were very spicy and had lots of curry but the chicken was dry and the whole thing tasted off. It sat like a rock in my belly and made me sick later in the day. NEVER AGAIN.

Only chinese restaurant that delivers in m falls / germantown so only reason I would order again. General tsos chicken was bright red sweet oopy gooopy icky. Fried rice was bland. The egg rolls obviously if the frozen variety. Ugh.

One of my favorite Chinese restaurants! My favorite is the Crispy Walnut Chicken, and their Chicken Noodle soup is awesome (not typical, has an asian flare). Take out is always fresh and hot. Highly Recommend, much, much better than competition down the road. Edited 3/1/14 - Uh oh, take out last night was not so good. Mushu Pork was all cabbage, little meat and what tasted like canned mushrooms! Tried the Pork Lo Mein, tasteless...so disappointed. I will not be venturing away from my favorites in the future, wish there were more takeout Asian options in the area.

Chen's is excellent Chinese. My favorites are the shrimp garlic sauce, general tso's chicken, stir fried soft shelled crab, chicken garlic sauce and the walnut crispy chicken. Best Chinese in Milwaukee.

I've eaten here twice in the last two months, and both times the food I received was nearly inedible. The first time I got hot and sour soup and szechuan beef, and both tasted like nothing but grease and some sort of unpleasant chemical product. The second time I had orange chicken with the same result. Maybe there's just something wrong with whatever they're using to make the dishes "hot", but I don't think that bodes well for the rest of the menu.

We had Kung pao chicken, hunan chicken and sesame chicken. The Kung pao and Hunan were tasteless. I ordered the Hunan extra spicy and it was swimming in oil. Sesame chicken was just ok.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
